Dell Vostro 1500 Keyboard can become full of dust mites and dead skin particles over time. Many people go years without ever cleaning their laptop keyboard. The task can look confusing and even impossible. But the keys do come off to allow easy cleaning and maintenance. Here is a step by step guide on how to clean your desktop or laptop keyboard. But a keyboard cover can solve the problem and make your keyboard new all the time.

Computer keyboard covers come in all shapes and sizes. They serve to not only keep Dell Vostro 1500 Keyboard clean, but also to reduce letter wearing on keys from typing. Follow these steps to get the most out of your plastic keyboard cover.

Step 1 Purchase an anti-static, plastic “molded” keyboard cover that works with your model of keyboard. Keep in mind that ergonomic or split keyboard covers may be more difficult to come by.

Step 2 Call your computer manufacturer if all else fails, or visit your computer manufacturer’s online store to purchase a cover that fits over your keyboard. Typically keyboard covers appear under “Accessories.” Keep in mind that a keyboard cover purchased directly from the manufacturer may cost more than one purchased through a retail computer accessory store or online marketplace.

Step 3 Remove the Dell Vostro 1500 Keyboard cover from its packaging, and check for any tears or holes as these can let in dust or moisture.

Step 4 Install the keyboard cover. Some covers have straps so that the cover can not shift or move once it is in place. If your plastic keyboard cover has straps, follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions.

Step 5 Type as you normally would, as “molded” keyboard covers are crafted to conform to your keyboard’s key structure to feel like the surface of your keyboard.

Step 6 Remove your plastic keyboard cover at regular intervals (approximately once a month or more) and wipe down with a warm, soapy cloth, and repeat with a fresh wet cloth to remove any dust, dirt and oil. Thoroughly dry the cover with a microfiber towel before re-installing over your keyboard.
